Way Too Much

We’ve all been there – carrying the weight of the world on our shoulders.
It feels too heavy, it feels like it’s never-ending, it feels like it’s hopeless.

It feels like that because God didn’t create us to carry all of that weight on our own.
We’re supposed to give all of our burdens to him – our worries, our endless to-do lists, our fears. And then he gives back to us the things he wants us to do – our purpose for being here on earth.
The burden God gives us is not easier – God often asks us to do very difficult things that are not possible to do on our own.

It’s lighter because it’s designed just for us. He equips us and he enables us to carry out our purpose.

So, whenever we feel the weight of the world weighing us down, we know exactly what to do – don’t we?

The Wages of Wisdom

The wages of wisdom are more profitable than silver, better than gold.

So these wages are things like:

Making better choices – more good ones, less bad ones.

Setting the right priorities in my life – spending my time and energy on the most valuable things.

Hearing God’s voice daily as he guides me on my next step.

Being successful by God’s definition, not by the values of this crazy culture we live in.

Building a Godly legacy which will influence my children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren for generations to come.

Gotta love that list – definitely joyful!

The Demons Had No Doubts

Have you noticed that whenever Jesus meets up with demons in the Bible, they always know exactly who he is?  There are never any doubts in their minds – they call him the Son of God and they scream because they know his power.

They know all about him.

They don’t call him a prophet,

 they don’t say he was a good teacher

or a good man.

They call him the Son of God. 

Not a doubt.

Built on a Rock

There are times in all of our lives where the rain comes in torrents. We all have experienced the floodwaters rising…and rising…and rising.

It’s during these times that we discover  whether our feet are planted on the Solid Rock or are we feeling washed away by all of the waves of problems tugging at us from all directions?

As parents, we want our children to have a solid foundation to grow on and keep them safe. The only way they are going to have that is if we have it. And we don’t get a solid foundation from money or careers or possessions – we get it from our relationship with God. When our happiness and confidence are built on him, we can stand firm when the storms hit.

And there’s always a storm brewing out there so there is no better time than now to build that firm foundation.

2012 is going to be a great year!

And to make it even better, we’re going on a journey through the Bible together.

I’m using the One Year Bible, NLT version.

It makes it easier by putting in all in order.  For those of you who want to use your own Bible, I’ll post the readings for each month so you’ll have them.

Please make any comments here that you’d like as we take this journey together.  God tells us that, whenever we seek him, we find him.  As we seek him by committing to read his word, I am confident that we’re going to find him  in new ways this year.
