How Do I Prepare?

When something big is going to happen in my life, what do I do to prepare?

I’m a planner so my preparation is often focused on lists of to-do’s and steps to get it all done.

It makes me pause when I read Esther’s response after the famous words of her uncle, ‘For such a time as this.”  Her first reaction was to gather all the Jews and ask them to fast with her.  She still decided her strategy and planned banquets.  But her first response was to get God right in the middle of it.  The fasting would help all of them remember exactly who was in control and who had the power to deliver them from the disaster that was coming.

That’s a good reminder for me.  The lists and the planning can wait.  When big things are coming my way, my first response should be acknowledging to God my need for his guidance and participation.

“For such a time as this”.

Please remind me when I forget, Abba Father.

For Such A Time As This

God challenges me with these words as I read the book of Esther.

For such a time as this.

This next step.

Esther’s story is a very good example of how God orchestrates opportunities and invites us to be a part of what he is already doing.  We would be missing an important point if we thought this is the only opportunity God gave Esther.  There were many more, this is just the one he told us about because it’s a significant example of how he works to complete his will through her.

And how he works to complete his will through me.

And through you.

Today is ‘for such a time as this’.

Today I will be given opportunities to partner with God in what he is accomplishing in this world.  He has made it clear to me that this blog is one of my assignments.  So I continue reading the Bible every year, listening to him and sharing with you what he says.  And I’ll do that until he tells me to stop.

Recently, God has started sharing with me insights into how he is pursuing some of the people in my life who haven’t chosen to accept his free gift of salvation yet.  It’s very interesting to watch him work.  I know he’s opening my eyes so I am more aware of my role and better prepared when my opportunity and ‘time’ comes.

There is a reason I’m still breathing today.

There’s a reason you’re still breathing.

For such a time as this.

Open our eyes, Abba Father.

Now Is The Time

Not ‘later’.

Not ‘when I get around to it”.

God often brings opportunities into our lives at just the right time for us to act.  He orchestrates situations and opens our eyes to the part he is asking us to play in his plan.  And he wants us to do this now.

It’s like he is standing in front of us, holding out his hand, asking us to take a part in what he already is doing.oct-3-2016-now-is-the-time

“For such a time as this.” Mordecai told Esther thousands of years ago.  She had an opportunity to put her life on the line in order to save her people, the Jews.  Mordecai told her he believed God would deliver the Jews with or without her but this was going to be her only chance to be a part of it.  This is the reason God made her queen.

The same thing happens to us today.

God holds out his hand to me and to you – giving us an opportunity to be a part of what he wants to accomplish here on earth.

We just need to take his hand and let him lead us through it.

Queen Esther had time to pray extensively about her opportunity and get her ‘prayer team’ on it.

Sometimes we get a chance to pray about it but other times we just need to say a quick prayer of obedience before we step up and act.

God is at work all around us.

What opportunity has God opened your eyes to lately?

He has handed me a big  ‘For Such a Time as This’ assignment.  Its new.  It’s challenging.  He has put all the pieces together and now I am moving forward in faith.

You’ll be reading more about that very soon :).

Thank you, Abba Father.

For Such a Time as This

Oct 3 2015 For such a time as thisWe wonder….

we get confused….

we worry……

we stumble down the wrong path and end up somewhere we don’t want to be.

Meanwhile, God has it all figured out.  He has promised that his master plan is to prosper us and give us a purpose.  He wants to shower us with his blessings.

If we ask.

If we seek his wisdom and insight for our lives.

If we listen and obey.

Queen Esther faced the possibility of being killed if she stood up for her people, the Jews.  Mordecai, her uncle, told her, “And who knows but that you have come to your royal position for such a time as this?” (vs 4:14)

I believe that we all have many moments every day where God has planned for us to intersect each other’s lives ‘for such a time as this”.  He has something specific he wants me to say when I go to lunch with a certain person.  He has something he wants me to do when I’m going through the check-out at the grocery store.  He has something else he wants me to text to a friend – right now.

He has a purpose for my day today.

He has a purpose for your day today.

To know that purpose, we need to be in line with him.  We need to be listening,

and ready,

and willing.

For such a time as this.

We love you, Abba Father.
