There are times when my problems loom very large over my head.
There are other days when there seems to be way too much to do – it will never all get done.
And then there are days like today when my absorption in the details of my life slams up against God’s truth.
My life is just a momentary flicker in time.
God tells me in his word that my life is like the new grass which withers almost as soon as it appears.
My life is barely going to make a noticeable bump in the history of time.
When King David was dying, he said, “I am about to go the way of the earth.”
Ashes to ashes, dust to dust. King David was extremely famous with his name and life splashed all over the most significant book of all time – the Bible. And even he went ‘the way of all the earth.” That’s where my body is going, too – back to the earth.
So I have to ask – what’s it all for? What can I do to make my flicker matter?
As always, God’s truth provides the answer. It’s all about loving God and loving others.
When our lives are dedicated to loving God and loving others, the ripples of grace, truth and wisdom reach out through our family and friends, making a lasting mark on lives our love has touched.
We are only here for a very short time until we go the way of all the earth.
Let’s make it count.
I dedicate my flicker to loving you and loving others, Abba Father.
You nailed it about the purpose of our Flicker…to Love God. It is the first commandment, to Love God with all your heart, soul, and mind and strength (Mark 12:28-34, Deuteronomy 6). By Loving Him, we will Love others (second commandment). Even for the brevity of the wind passing over the flowers that will wither away, let your flicker focus on the Love (Big L for agape) for our Heavenly Father. Thanks for the reminder Judy. “Love You”
Love you!💙💙
